Cops release suspect sketch in attack on gay journalist

Cops released a sketch of a man suspected of beating an openly gay journalist in Midtown earlier this month.

The attacker punched the 46-year-old victim, who fell to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement, on Seventh Avenue, near West 54th Street, around 3 a.m. Jan. 17, police said.

The suspect sped away in a gray, four-door Nissan with Mississippi license plate number KAT397, police said.

The victim, Randy Gener, suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, where he underwent surgery, authorities said. He is currently in stable condition.

Police are investigating the assault as a possible hate crime.

The attacker is believed to be in his 20s, about 6-feet-tall, 160 pounds, with closely cropped black hair. He was wearing a black jacket and black jeans.
