Teen mom accused of throwing infant down Bronx garbage chute; baby doesn’t survive

A 19-year-old woman tossed her newborn baby down a garbage chute in her Bronx apartment building yesterday, cops said.

The child was found dead in a trash bag in the basement of the West Farms Road building.

It wasn’t clear if the baby was born alive.

The mom went afterwards to Albert Einstein Hospital, where she admitted to doctors that she gave birth, then discarded the child, police said.

The tiny body appeared to be premature, cops said.

“We all went down together and we saw the small little bag in the garbage,” said Jose Garcia, 50, the building’s super.

“I was about to change the garbage bags myself. I might not have even seen it if I didn’t know to look for it.”

Police had not yet brought charges against the woman as of last night.
