Man, 39, wounded in Inwood apartment stabbing

A man is fighting for his life after he was stabbed inside of an Inwood apartment yesterday following a fight over a woman, police sources said.

The 39-year old victim was stabbed on the sixth floor of an apartment building on Thayer Street by the jealous boyfriend of the girl he was dating, sources said.

The wounded man then fled from the building and out onto the street – leaving a trail of blood behind him, sources added.

“There was blood on the staircase,” said Alvin Fernandez, 18, who lives on the fifth floor. “It started on the sixth floor and went all the way down.”

He was found on the corner Nagle Avenue and Thayer Street at approximately 7:45 p.m. with stab wounds to his stomach, authorities said.

“He had one cut to each side [of his stomach],” said Danny Estrella, 36, who works in a barbershop across the street from where the victim collapsed.

The victim was rushed to Harlem Hospital in serious condition, police said.

No arrests have been made.
