Fall Revolt for Combs

Sean Combs is set to launch his all-music channel, Revolt, in October.

Modeled on ESPN and CNN, Revolt says it will offer news reports every half hour as well as original programming.

Revolt has staffed up and has studios in New York and LA, with Combs acknowledging the difficulties artists face in getting their music heard.

“We’ll be playing artists from Russia, people that don’t speak English,” he told reporters at the annual TV Critics press tour in LA.

“We’re looking for people who have something to say. It’s highly curated. When you get to Revolt, you’ll feel you’ve been authorized.”

One of Combs’ ambitions is to give LA its own New Year’s Eve ball drop on Hollywood Boulevard. “It won’t happen this year, but in the New Year’s Eves to come,” he said.

Asked how the collapse of the music industry would affect Revolt’s fortunes, Combs was optimistic — calling it a “misconception.”

“Justin Timberlake and Jay Z just sold out the Rose Bowl. The top 9 Twitter handles are musical artists,” he said.

“The number one thing kids look for online is music.”
