Beach-crush guy cell call

The man crushed under a police SUV on a Long Island beach Wednesday was on his cellphone, talking Mets baseball with a pal, when the horrifying accident happened.

“It was just incredible. I heard the whole thing,” the buddy, Jesse Then, said of his astonishing phone conversation with Marshall Starkman.

Starkman was lying face down on a lounge chair in Long Beach when a cop accidentally ran over him, leaving tire marks on the T-Mobile manager’s back and fracturing his spine in two places.

“We were talking about the game one second and then I heard the noise and some more, and then I heard him mumble something,” Then said.

“I was screaming, ‘Marshall! Marshall! Marshall!’ . . . I knew something bad was happening.”

Starkman’s wife, Alison, said her husband suffered “very troubling” internal injuries, including to his heart. “We’re praying,” she said.

Starkman’s lawyer, Neil Greenberg, said he plans to sue.
