Bam’s border bungle

I fully agree with Ralph Peters’ perception that this administration’s strategy remains stagnant (“Security Charade,” PostOpinion, May 28).

At best, President Obama offers virtually useless gestures, as he has with regard to directing trained warriors to be stationed behind desks.

There is a war on our southern border, and it’s not with a neighboring nation but with criminals who have murdered both Mexicans and Americans.

It will only escalate should we hide behind the rhetoric of political correctness.

Laws need to be honored, because without the rule of law, society erodes.

And law-enforcement agencies, both civilian and military, need to be used appropriately to protect innocent members of society and civilian enterprise.

Peters’ analogy of the administration’s response to porous border security, “a bunny rabbit hypnotized by a snake,” says it all.

Obama’s deputy national security adviser, John Brennan, says that terrorists are “victims” of society and that jihadism is a legitimate expression of Islam.

Wile E. Coyote is more effective at apprehending the Road Runner than are the cartoon characters in charge of negating security threats to Americans and our homeland.

Peters writes about the “10 million illegals” living in America, but when did we take a census of illegals?

What if it’s 30 million, or even more? Are those who support comprehensive reform ready to grant amnesty to a group that might be greater than 10 percent of our entire population?
