JCPenney’s employee count rose slightly last year as the retailer recovered from a bloodbath under former CEO Ron Johnson.
As of Feb. 1, Penney had 117,000 full-time and part-time workers, according to a regulatory filing Friday. That’s up from 116,000 a year earlier, though short of historic levels of 150,000 and up.
Penney also expects the “final resolution” of its legal fight with Macy’s over Martha Stewart will have “no material adverse effect” on its operations or finances.
