Lena Dunham redefines glam in Vogue

You go, “Girl”!

“Girls” star Lena Dunham graces the cover of February’s Vogue, the world’s most famous fashion magazine — proving that ordinary-looking women, too, can do glamour.

Making headlines for frequently appearing nude on the hit HBO show she that created, writes and stars in, Dunham dons designer gowns in her New York habitat — posing before the Flatiron Building with co-star Adam Driver, with a pigeon on her head, on a messy bed, and in a bathtub for photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Dubbed “the voice of a generation,” Dunham, 27, has been called out for her unconventional fashion decisions, making her an unusual cover choice for a magazine obsessed with thinness and perfection.

Vogue editor Anna Wintour famously asked Oprah Winfrey to lose weight before appearing on her cover in October 1998.

But Wednesday, Wintour declared Dunham “the perfect cover for our February issue.”

“Lena is a strong, confident woman who charts her own path, and that, to my mind, makes her an inspiring role model,” Wintour said.

In the spread, Dunham wears Alexander McQueen, Céline and Prada in playful pictures that show off her natural looks without appearing overly Photoshopped.

“There was a sense that I and many women I knew had been led astray by Hollywood and television depictions of sexuality,” Dunham tells the magazine.

“Seeing somebody who looks like you having sex on television is a less-comfortable experience than seeing somebody who looks like nobody you’ve ever met.”
