‘Tango’ and trash

Guys looking to engineer a post-Valentine’s Day breakup with their girlfriends should make a date to see “Immigration Tango,” a labored romantic farce whose only asset is Carlos Leon, best known as the father of Madonna’s daughter Lourdes.

Leon, playing a chef from Colombia, and his Russian girlfriend (Elika Portnoy) are about to lose their visas. So they enter into partner-swapping green-card marriages with their best friends, a law student (Ashley Wolfe) and a doctoral student in literature (McCaleb Burnett).

An immigration officer is, of course, suspicious, but there’s nary a laugh to be found, as David Burton Morris’ lead-footed direction allows things to drag on for what feels like three hours. Leon is actually kind of charming as an actor, but he’s completely wasted in this bomb.
