WTB by Richie Sambora and Nikki Lund

Richie Sambora, also known as the guitarist for Bon Jovi, introduced his first New York Fasion Week showing of a line called WTB, which stands for White Trash Beautiful. Well, why not. These days, it’s almost stranger for a celebrity not to have a fashion, handbag, fragrance, or accessories venture. The womenswear line is collaboration between Sambora and designer/musician Nikki Lund.

Perhaps the best shorthand for describing the line is by listing the celebs who have worn it: Miley Cyrus and Heather Locklear, for example. The look was groupie-chic — leather n’ lurex and metallics. The clothes probably look best on women with C-cups and above. For some reason, there were quite a few blazers — cutaway tuxedo jackets and cocktail jackets, as well as stretch satin pants, one pair with tuxedo stripes. Everything was black or silver save for a few shots of bright teal.

The first few pairs of shoes — wedge lace-up booties with buckles — were fierce. But someone should tell Sambora that the over-the-knee boot phenomenon is over and done.

The tube dresses (and a few gowns) were mostly lackluster, with sloppy fit and cuts. One exception was a silver snakesin minidress with open sides.

In an excellent example of cross-platform branding, “White Trash Beautiful” is also a song. It played more than once during the show.
