NYC announces online map for 311 service requests

Complaints submitted to New York City’s 311 system are getting a public airing.

The city launched an interactive map on Wednesday that will allow anybody to view 311 complaints that have been filed in the last year but remain unresolved, or that have been resolved in the last five days.

Users can search the site to see complaints in 15 categories such as noise and public safety, and they can search the complaints by address or zip code. They can also use the map to follow the steps the city has taken to resolve complaints.

A quick search on the site reveals that the Manhattan neighborhoods of Inwood and Washington Heights have more open or recently closed tenant heating complaints than any other section of the city.
