Ambulance rushing to shooting crashes into another vehicle

An ambulance rushing to a double shooting in the Bronx today collided with another vehicle, critically injuring the car’s driver, authorities said.

The ambulance was responding to a shooting at East 167th Street and Bryant Avenue in Foxhurst that left one man in his 20s with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the face and the other shot in the hip at around 6:20 p.m., the FDNY said.

The EMTs were a mere four blocks away when their ambulance struck another vehicle near Southern Boulevard and Barretto Street, authorities said.

Both EMTs suffered minor injuries and were taken to Lincoln Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition, officials said.

Another ambulance quickly showed up on scene to treat the gunshot victims, according to FDNY officials. Both men were taken to Lincoln Hospital.

The NYPD is investigating the shooting and the accident.
