Mark-Viverito takes a swipe at Cuomo on Twitter

Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito took a not-so-veiled Twitter swipe at Gov. Cuomo on Saturday, accusing him of keeping silent during the gas explosion in East Harlem, among other things.

“Tax 500k + earners=outrageous, hedge fund backed charters=enthusiastic support, raise min wage=not on my watch, #EastHarlemExplosion=SILENCE” she wrote.

A spokesman for Mark-Viverito declined comment.

A spokeswoman for Gov. Cuomo shot back: “Like many of the things that get said on Twitter everyday, this is factually inaccurate.”

Cuomo did pass a law last year to raise the minimum wage, though he hasn’t agreed to let New York City regulate its own minimum wage.

And while Cuomo hasn’t visited the gas explosion site, immediately after the blast the state Public Service Commission began investigating and other state officials have been on scene to help out.

The governor also raised taxes on the wealthy, extending the surcharge on millionaires in 2012.

His support of charter schools does remain among the biggest philosophical differences between the governor and the mayor, who recently moved to stop three charters from co-locating in public schools.
