‘American Dad’ to play a new ’toon with TBS

‘American Dad’ will start a new life on TBS after completing its 10-season run on Fox.

The “Seriously Funny” cable network will air an all-new 11th season of Seth MacFarlane’s animated series later next year, with repeats then airing on Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” late-night programming block.

TBS has ordered 15 episodes of the series, which revolves around uber Republican CIA agent Stan Smith (voiced by MacFarlane) and his loony family — including loving, forgiving wife Francine (Wendy Schaal), rebellious 18-year-old daughter Hayley (Rachel MacFarlane) and his geeky 14-year-old son, Steve (Scott Grimes).

The family also has to deal with its resident space alien, Roger (also voiced by MacFarlane and sounding suspiciously like Paul Lynde) and its German goldfish, Klaus (Dee Bradley Baker).

This marks a more permanent agreement with TBS and “American Dad,” since the network has been airing “Dad” repeats — and repeats of MacFarlane’s hit Fox series “Family Guy” — for several years now.

“American Dad” has never quite achieved the same status as “Family Guy” but has performed well enough, snaring two Emmy nods for Outstanding Animated Program.
