Quinn launching major ad push

As she finds herself trailing Anthony Weiner in the polls, mayoral hopeful Christine Quinn is launching a major multi-network TV ad buy beginning tomorrow, The Post has learned.

The spot, which highlights Quinn’s accomplishments, will air on NY1, MSNBC and CNN among other stations, sources said.

It marks the first time in the highly competitive Democratic primary a candidate has aired a television commercial.

Self-funded GOP billionaire John Catsimatidis has attracted attention for his self-promoting television ads which have focused on helping voters learn how to pronounce his name.

A Quinn campaign spokesman declined comment on the ads. A rival campaign criticized the move: “To buy TV this far out (from the September primary) is a waste of money in a race with a hard spending cap. This is a panic buy from a campaign that is desperate to reverse their slide.”

The ads will air for one week and cost at least six figures, sources said.

With $6 million on hand, Quinn has more money to spend than any of her Democratic rivals.
