Real estate legend Barbara Corcoran looks ready to sell her Pawling, NY, house for less than her broker thinks it’s worth.
She’s mulling over an offer, for her full asking price of $545,000, that she got at an open house on Sunday.
Corcoran’s broker told her that the four-bedroom, three-bathroom Dutchess County home was worth about $615,000. But Corcoran, who bought it decades ago for $220,000, priced it to sell fast. And less than one hour into the open house, a bidder made the $545,000 offer.
Corcoran has five homes and has only been at this one for three days in seven years. Before that, she hosted picnics for Corcoran Group agents — complete with elephants, horses, camels, hot-air balloons and motorcycle gangs with Harleys — prior to selling the real estate brokerage she founded.
The home was a former schoolhouse. It sits on 1.4 acres and comes with cathedral ceilings and two fireplaces.
Corcoran could use the proceeds from her home’s sale to invest more in entrepreneurs on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” where she’s a regular alongside Mark Cuban.
Oh Mocomanto
Peter Tufo, a former US ambassador to Hungary and a Yale-educated ex-Marine, has put his landmarked Victorian home in Southampton on the market for $11.99 million.
The 1882 mansion, known as Mocomanto, is a historic property on Lake Agawam on First Neck Lane. The paradise is about as different as one can imagine from an infamous Rikers Island prison riot — where Tufo, as unpaid chairman of the New York City Board of Corrections, crawled through tear gas into prisoner-held territory to establish a truce and negotiate the release of hostages.
The mansion, on a 2.2-acre corner of land that juts into the lake, includes a long, secluded driveway, a wraparound porch and a foyer with original Tiffany & Co. windows. There’s also a lakeside pool.
Listing broker Hans von Schirach of Saunders and Associates declined to comment.
We hear . . .
That artist Roy Lichtenstein’s widow, Dorothy, an art historian and head of the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, is close to buying a home on Meeting House Lane in Southampton. “She’s been by there several times and had an engineer look over the place,” a source says. . . . That on Saturday, Plum TV will air a show shot at the 20th Annual Decorators-Designers-Dealers Sale and Auction Benefit Gala, which raised $400,000 for the Southampton Fresh Air Home.
Art of the deal
Artist Rachel Hovnanian and her developer husband, Ara, have just closed on a four-story townhouse on West Fourth Street, between Bank and 11th, for an undisclosed price. We’re told the home needs a gut renovation. The Hovnanians, who will ask the Landmarks Preservation Commission for permission to add a fifth story and a roof deck, plan to convert the home back into a single-family residence.
The Hovnanians recently sold their townhouse on West 12th Street to Whitney board member Warren
Kanders and his wife, Allison, for $17.8 million.
Lopez looking
Hot mama/cougar Jennifer Lopez might be frolicking on a beach in Brazil with her 25-year-old tattooed boy toy, Casper Smart, and her 4-year-old twins, but she still has her eye on the Hamptons.
While her search for an East End house to buy might have cooled, we hear that Lopez is still looking for a last-minute Hamptons rental for July 2 to 9. Sources says Lopez is willing to pay around $250,000 for that span.
Media buy
It’s been a productive year for Bill Koenigsberg, the founder and CEO of Horizon Media. We hear that Koenigsberg, named Advertising Age’s executive of the year, is the buyer of a stunning penthouse duplex at 429 Greenwich St. An attorney for Koenigsberg denied that his client purchased the home, but a source close to the deal says that Koenisberg bought the five-bedroom, 5 1/2-bathroom condo in TriBeCa’s Dietz Lantern building for $15 million. That’s way down from its $22 million asking price.
The home includes 50 windows and a master suite with a planted terrace and wood-burning fireplace. There’s also a swimming pool and a library/office with a 33-foot ceiling. The home comes with two parking spaces.
Not messi’ng around
Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi is looking for a trophy apartment in Miami. He was spotted at the newly opened St. Regis Bal Harbour, touring multiple condos priced between $5 million and $8 million. Broker Oren Alexander of Prudential Douglas Elliman, who was seen with Messi, declined to comment.
