‘Cake Boss Cafe’ opening in Port Authority Bus Terminal

There’s a new boss in town.

Cake Boss — the popular cable TV reality show set in a family-run Hoboken bakery — is opening an offshoot in the Port Authority Bus Terminal, it was announced today.

The 2,774 square foot “Cake Boss Cafe” will take up a substantial chunk of the busy bus terminal’s ground floor, according to the $4.3 million lease inked with the Port Authority, which operates the space.

The deal is good for three and a half years and also requires the cafe’s operators to spend $2 million revamping the future store, which has been vacant since 2000.

It’s the highest lease deal for any retail space in the bus terminal.

“It’s a great deal,” Port Authority Chairman David Samson said at the agency’s operations meeting this morning.

The Port Authority’s board is expected to approve the deal later today.

The new eatery — which will be located in the north wing of the terminal — will be the second spot to grab goodies from New Jersey baker Buddy Valastro, Jr.

Valastro’s Hoboken shop Carlo’s Bakery — where the TLC-show is centered — has become a major tourist draw in the neighborhood, often with lines around the block.

The Manhattan branch is also expected to draw huge crowds, said Michael Francois, Chief of Real Estate and Development for the Port Authority.

“The store has the potential to become a major draw for residents, visitors and workers throughout New York City,” he said.
