Giants get new sponsor

The Giants tomorrow report to training camp at the facility formerly known as Timex Performance Center. The team announced their four-year partnership with TIMEX Group has been mutually terminated yesterday and there will be a “major partnership announcement’’ today the Giants say will be “focused on player health and well-being.’’

Translation: The Giants practice facility in the parking lot of MetLife Stadium gets a new name.

“We appreciate the cooperation we’ve experienced in partnering with TIMEX over these past four years,” Giants co-owner John Mara said. “This is an amicable and mutual parting, and we wish TIMEX all the best.’’

The Giants will hold training camp at home this summer after spending every year since 1996 other than the lockout-shortened 2011 preseason at the University at Albany.

The new partnership is with a company in the health-care industry. Blue Cross Blue Shield would fit nicely with the Giants’ Big Blue persona and Hackensack University Medical Center would make sense, as it is already a Giants’ sponsor. — Paul Schwartz
