Alex Honnold climbs a skyscraper for Nat Geo

Nat Geo will rip a page from Discovery’s playbook by having a noted rock climber scale one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers — on live TV.

The stunt is scheduled to air this fall, and Nat Geo isn’t saying what building “rock climbing superstar” Alex Honnold will climb “for security reasons,” according to a network spokeswoman.

Live Climb with Alex Hannold,” a two-hour event, is reminiscent of Nick Wallenda’s live tightrope-walk across a portion of the Grand Canyon last month , which he accomplished without wearing a harness.

Nat Geo did air Felix Baumgartner’s historic dive from outer space, so it’s no stranger to the genre.

Hannold’s climb will air in the US and globally.
