She calls herself “Syyydney.” She loves President Obama, polar bears and pink clip-on hair extensions.
And when she wasn’t enjoying lurid e-sex with mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner, she was elsewhere online, coming to the defense of both Weiner and his wife.
Meet Bible Belt bad girl Sydney Leathers, Weiner’s bright, buxom and slightly bucktoothed cyber-paramour.
A staunch liberal, the 23-year-old Midwestern brunette was a field organizer for Obama and kept a progressive political blog until her scandalous affair with “Carlos Danger” broke Tuesday on TheDirty.com.
Leathers did a bit of public posting about the Weiners — even as she was privately telling one “Carlos Danger” that “I want you to bend me over my desk right now.”
“Rep. Weiner can continue sending d–k pics every single day for the rest of his life,” Leathers announced on her now-defunct Facebook page at around the time the online correspondence with Weiner blossomed. “So long as he continues to legislate like he does,” she explained. “I decided.”
Leathers has taken down most of her online accounts. Still, enough survive to give insight to her personality — including the tweeted photo of a large hourglass tattoo she got on her left upper arm last summer.
“Interests: Art, Fashion & Beauty. Radio. Music. Shopping. Politics,” she wrote in her profile on the online community Netlog.
“Love Status: In love.”
Her thrice-married mom, Laura, was a home health aide; her uncle was the police chief of the southern Illinois town of Mount Carmel, where she grew up, just across the Wabash River from where she’d end up living with her machinist dad in Princeton, Ind.
Leathers’ stepfather Jeffrey Wyatt, who is separated from mom Laura, said “right now her mom is embarrassed. Of course he should be in the race.”
“He should have never been in it to begin with. It looks silly.”
Weiner — who, she told TheDirty.com, had promised her a condo in Chicago and a possible job at Politico — had seemed like her ticket out.
“There was nothing about her that was small-town,” said her former teacher at Mount Carmel HS.
“She always colored her hair,” the teacher added. “She never dated boys her own age. She was precocious in so many different ways.”
Meanwhile, another of Weiner’s young sext recipients, Gennette Cordova — a 21-year-old student in Seattle when she received the infamous crotch shot seen ’round the world in 2011 — had this to tweet about Leathers: “The stupid part was believing a 22-year-old can be strung along for 6 months, abandoned & trusted to keep quiet.”
Correction: In the July 25 edition of the Post, we published a story about Sydney Leathers that described Gennette Cordova as another of Anthony Weiner’s ‘young sexters.’ While Ms. Cordova was sent the crotch shot of Mr. Weiner in 2011, as reported in the article, she did not solicit it or send anything sexually explicit to Mr. Weiner.
