Braylon back in the fold with Jets

The Jets boosted their wide receiving corps as they leave for training camp by reaching a one-year deal with Braylon Edwards yesterday.

Edwards passed his physical and is expected to report to training camp in Cortland today with the rest of the team.

Edwards, 30, spent part of the 2009 and the entire 2010 season with the Jets then returned for the final three games of last season. He had 10 catches for 125 yards in those three games.

Edwards began last season with the Seahawks, where new Jets general manager John Idzik worked in the front office before getting hired by the Jets.

The addition of Edwards comes one day after the team placed top receiver Santonio Holmes on the physically unable to perform list. Edwards hardly is the solution to the Jets’ receiving problems, but he will help. He has just 33 catches over the past two seasons after pulling in 53 for the Jets in 2010.

The team also signed defensive lineman Leger Douzable, who has not played since 2011.
