Revis: Bucs are ‘more of a family’

Darrelle Revis managed to take a shot at the New York media and the Jets when comparing his old digs to his new ones.

The Buccaneers cornerback, whom the Jets traded away in April, told NFL.com “there’s no nitpicking” down in Tampa — and “no small stories leaking out to be bigger stories.”

“It’s just a smaller city,” Revis said. “It’s more of a family here. Everybody is real tight here. We all get along.”

Revis, regarded as the top cornerback in football, is recovering from a torn ACL which forced him to miss the majority of the Jets season in 2012. He said he did individual drills yesterday for the first time and he’s “just easing my way in.”

Things are different down in Florida than they were with the Jets, said Revis, who was traded for three draft picks.

“Everybody’s on the same page here and we want to win,” he said.

FALCONS: Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Ryan and the team have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension.

A person familiar with the situation says Ryan’s extension is a $103.75 million deal, with $59 million guaranteed.

REDSKINS: Coach Mike Shanahan says it will take two to three weeks to get Robert Griffin III into full football shape and that it “doesn’t make sense” to play the quarterback in any preseason games.

SEAHAWKS:
Percy Harvin has suffered an unknown hip injury that landed him on the physically unable to perform list. The injury is in the area of Harvin’s labrum, which has immediately drawn concern that it could be a problem that would cause Harvin to miss significant time.
