Crashes claim 2 lives in Brooklyn, Queens

Two people were killed in separate car crashes Friday night, authorities said.

A Bronx man was fatally wounded at 8:15 p.m. after being hit by two cars in the Bronx.

According to cops, the man was struck by a white van as he crossed Baychester Avenue, which sped off before police could arrive.

He was then hit a second time by a Lexus after he hit the pavement, but the driver of that vehicle stayed on scene until authorities  arrived.

According to cops, the driver of the white van eventually turned himself in, and was arrested at the 47th Precinct.

Authorities say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, a Queens car accident left another person dead after a crash on the northbound side of the Cross Island Parkway.

The car ran up the hill along the road into the woods then tumbled back down into the roadway, according to a witness.

John Carter, 50, who lives across the street, heard the accident.

“It was loud. I thought it was the train that runs behind my block,” Carter said. “I came over here and see the body just laying right in the middle of the street. It’s ugly right there. This is horrible.”

According to authorities, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
