Occupy Wall Street hits Sun Valley

The Occupy Wall Street movement made its way to the Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, where the real “1 percent” rub elbows.

Protesters railing against the growing gap between the rich and everyone else gathered at the Sun Valley Resort near the duck pond, where Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Mayor Mike Bloomberg were having lunch.

A group of seven people, dressed in “Greed Kills” T-shirts laid on the ground and refused to move, quickly unfurling a yellow banner that read: “White Collar Crime Scene.”

“There is an event going on with the 1 percent,” said one activist, Jennifer Carter, of Boise, Idaho. “Their policies are deleterious for the rest of us.”

“This event encompasses oil, pharma and big business. They are together and they are what destroys the quality of life for everybody,” added Carter.

The morning session at the annual conference was titled, “Energy Independence.”

Lodge security called the police, and the protestors were cleared off the property after about 15 minutes.
