Marc Cherry’s ‘Devious Maids’ will return

Marc Cherry may have gone from “Desperate” to “Devious,” but he’s building his TV legacy with dark satires.

Lifetime has just renewed his first series for the network, “Devious Maids,” ordering another 13 episodes premiering next year.

The story of maids who are turning the tables on their narcissistic employers has given the network the top Sunday-night cable spot at 10 p.m.

Cherry’s last venture, “Desperate Housewives,” ran for nine seasons on ABC.

Inspired by the hit telenovela, “Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar,” Devious Maids is produced by ABC Studios.

“We have had a great partnership with Lifetime and Televisa and we’re looking forward to another terrific season with Marc Cherry and his talented cast and crew,” said Stephanie Leifer, Senior Vice President, Current Programming, ABC Studios.

“Devious Maids” stars Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes.

It’s the fastest-growing series in Lifetime history and recently hit 2.9 million viewers, a series best.

Former “Housewives” star Eva Longoria is one of the show’s executive producers.
