Timberlake to perform at VMAs, will receive lifetime achievement award

Justin Timberlake stepped away from music for seven years, but that doesn’t mean he lost his touch. His latest album “The 20/20 Experience” is the best selling album of the year, he’s currently on tour with Jay Z and now he’s set to perform at the 2013 “MTV Video Music Awards.”

The network announced today that the singer will take the stage at the award show for the first time since a memorable performance with Timbaland in 2007. Additionally, he will be honored with the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

The Video Vanguard Award is MTV’s lifetime achievement award, and has been given out to a wide range of artist including David Bowie, Madonna and Britney Spears. As a solo artist and as a member of *NSYNC, Timberlake has won 14 VMAs, second only to Madonna.

Timberlake, who’s tied with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for most nominations at this year’s show with six, joins previously announced performers Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke.

The 30th “MTV Video Music Awards” will be held Sunday, Aug. 25 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and aired live at 9 p.m.
