Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry reunite on ‘Cougar Town’

The “Friends” movie might not be happening, but that’s not stopping the former castmates of the NBC sitcom from staging their own mini reunions on each other’s current shows.

The latest is Matthew Perry, who stops by Tuesday night’s episode of “Cougar Town” for a reunion with his former on-screen wife Courteney Cox – and from the look of it, they may be reigniting the Chandler-Monica flame.

The episode sees Jules (Cox) wind up in a car accident with an attractive man named Sam (Perry), and when she notices that her wedding ring has fallen off during the fender bender, she can’t resist accepting Sam’s offer to take her on a date.

The “Friends” guest-starring on each other’s shows is nothing new – Perry’s latest spot is a pay back of sorts for when Cox appeared on his short-lived NBC comedy “Go On” last March. Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow have both appeared on “Cougar Town” in the past. Cox, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc have all guested on Kudrow’s Showtime comedy “Web Therapy” (which was renewed for a fourth season on Tuesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter). And Aniston did a spot on Cox’s last TV series, the FX drama “Dirt” back in 2007.

In a bit of a meta moment, a Season Two episode of Le Blanc’s Showtime series “Episodes” (in which he plays a fictionalized version of himself), revolved around his trying to get one of his “Friends” co-stars to appear on his show-within-the-show. Sadly, the only one he can get is James Michael Tyler, who played Central Perk manager Gunther in “Friends.”
