MOBILE, Ala. — It did not take long for Tony Sparano to find work.
The former Jets offensive coordinator was hired by the Raiders as assistant head coach/offensive line, according to a source.
Sparano spent one season with the Jets with dismal results. The Jets ranked 30th in yards per game in the NFL, quarterback Mark Sanchez regressed and Sparano never utilized Tim Tebow in the offense.
The Jets fired Sparano two weeks ago. Sparano was the head coach of the Dolphins from 2008-11. He now joins Dennis Allen’s staff in Oakland.
The Jets have replaced Sparano with Marty Mornhinweg, according to a source, but the team has not announced his hiring yet.
The Jets’ coaching staff is nearly complete. They added Tim McDonald as defensive backs coach, according to a source, to replace Dennis Thurman, who has been promoted to defensive coordinator. The team has not announced those moves yet either.
