Relativity boss asks famous friends to back Sheriff candidate

Relativity boss Ryan Kavanaugh is taking a page out of the Jeffrey Katzenbergpolitical play book.

The movie company chief is fattening a war chest to donate money to politicians and causes across both sides of the aisle.

On Friday, Kavanaugh sent out letters to his influential friends, asking them to back an effort to get James Hellmold elected as the next Sheriff of Los Angeles County.

Hellmold is currently the assistant sheriff. The current LA sheriff, Lee Baca, said he was stepping down come January.

“Ryan is looking at this race closely and at others on the national scene,” said a friend close to the divorced film maker, who will host a fundraiser at his aircraft hanger in Santa Monica in April.
