Teenager seriously injured in Prospect Heights accident

A teenager trying to cross Eastern Parkway was hit and seriously injured by a car in Prospect Heights Saturday night, according to authorities.

Cops say the driver was trying to beat a yellow traffic light when he struck the teen.

“He looked lifeless,” a witness said of the victim.

“The driver mowed the guy down and lost control. I ran right up to the kid, and he was breathing faintly, face down.”

The unidentified teen was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, authorities say.

Immediately after striking the teen, the driver swerved into a pole and hit a bench at the corner of Classon Avenue.

The driver, whose name was not released, passed a field sobriety test, and it is unknown if he will face charges. An investigation is ongoing, according to cops.
