LeBron’s police escort to Jay-Z concert being investigated after Heat star posted video of ride

The Miami-Dade Police Department is in trouble for giving King James the royal treatment.

Lebron James was stuck in traffic and going to be late for a Jay-Z/Justin Timberlake concert he was attending in Miami this past weekend, so the police served as an escort for the four-time MVP and led him to the show by driving the wrong way through traffic.

“They treat us so well! Needed it cause traffic was nuts!!,” James, who led the Heat to back-to-back titles the past two seasons. tweeted while also posting a video on Instagram of his car heading to Sunlife Stadium, with dozens of cars standing still to his right. Jay-Z was delaying the concert until James arrived, according to a TMZ report.

Understandably, people were upset with the preferential treatment, including the department, which will investigate the incident further.

“It has been brought to our attention that a video was posted on the Internet by LeBron James … where it shows him being escorted onto the property of Sunlife Stadium for a concert on Friday,” the statement said, according to USA Today.

“Upon further investigation, it has been confirmed that the Miami-Dade Police Department did facilitate Mr. James from one intersection to another, in the adjacent area of the stadium. This was not a scheduled escort and although all safety precautions were taken, the department has identified these actions as a violation of departmental policy. The Miami-Dade Police Department will continue to look into the matter.”
