Gropez ogling a council seat

Assemblyman Vito Lopez, whose political standing in Albany has plummeted after being accused of sex harassment, is telling insiders he’ll run for a City Council seat from Brooklyn this year.

Lopez is under separate investigations by a state ethics panel and Staten Island District Attorney Dan Donovan. He has denied the allegations, which resulted in a $103,000 hush-money settlement to two of his staffers.

Lopez, who could not be reached for comment, is expected to challenge Antonio Reynoso for the seat being vacated by Diana Reyna, Lopez’s political enemy.

Reynoso has already received the endorsement of City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and the UFT.

“Voters can see the difference: Vito Lopez is a disgraced politician, and I’m a community leader who will fight for affordable housing and good jobs,” Reynoso said.
