MTA WATCHDOGS GIVE ‘FARE’ WARNING IN ADS

Ads that imitate the MTA’s infamous service-advisory posters are running in at least 14 local newspapers across the city, providing the name and phone number of state senators believed to be holding up an agency rescue plan.

A bailout that would stave off massive fare hikes and service cuts is caught in a stalemate in the state Senate.

The posters include the phrase “transit doomsday” at the top, followed by “coming soon” with a list of local bus and subway lines on the chopping block.

The $8,900 ad buy, financed by a variety of transit-advocacy groups, is aimed at both Republicans and Democrats — “any lawmaker who has something to say or something to do with these fare hikes,” said Gene Russianoff of the Straphangers’ Campaign.

Republican Sens. Martin Golden (Brooklyn) and Andrew Lanza (SI) are targeted, along with Finance Committee Chairman Carl Kruger (D-Brooklyn) and Kevin Parker (D-Brooklyn).
