Teary Khan to prison

Roomy Khan, a former Intel Corp. executive — who brazenly lied to FBI agents even while helping them nab hedge fund honcho Raj Rajaratnam — was sentenced yesterday to one year in prison.

“There is no excuse for the decisions I took. They were wrong and I broke the law,” a teary-eyed Khan said yesterday before Manhattan federal Judge Jed Rakoff.

Khan’s years long cooperation and testimony helped lead to the arrest and conviction of Doug Whitman of Whitman Capital. Her secret recordings of Galleon Group’s Rajaratnam allowed the feds to win the court-ordered wiretaps that put him away for 11 years.

But Khan, 53, also thwarted authorities by protecting, and even tipping off, other co-conspirators — including Deep Shah, who remains a fugitive.

Khan employed numerous tricks to evade the authorities even as she aided them, including using a secret, second cellphone registered in her gardener’s name.
