Chris at ‘heavy’ risk: doc

Chris Christie may joke about his weight a lot — but a former White House doctor says his weight is no laughing matter.

“I’m worried about this man dying in office,” Dr. Connie Mariano said of the portly New Jersey governor.

“I’m worried [Christie] may have a heart attack. I’m worried he may have a stroke. It’s almost like a time bomb waiting to happen unless he addresses those issues before running for office,” Mariano, who worked for former President Bill Clinton, told CNN.

Mariano said she’s offering Christie friendly advice. She’s a Republican who would like to see him run for president in 2016.

“I just want him to lose weight,” Mariano said.

For his part, Christie, who has been publicly ridiculed for his heft, often pokes fun at himself while trying to address the weighty issue.

As part of a comedy bit on “Late Show with David Letterman” Monday night, he pulled a jelly doughnut out of his pocket and took a bite as the audience roared.
