Jets re-sign veteran guard Willie Colon on 1-year deal

The Jets have their starting offensive line set for 2014 after re-signing right guard Willie Colon on Wednesday. The $2 million contract is for one year, according to a source.

Colon, who turns 31 next month, played well last year in his first season with the Jets and became a respected voice in the locker room. Colon is coming off surgery for a torn biceps, an injury he suffered in the Jets’ final game in Miami.

The Bronx native spent his first seven seasons with the Steelers.

Colon’s return means the Jets will only have one new piece on their offensive line. They signed Breno Giacomini to replace Austin Howard at right tackle. Center Nick Mangold, left guard Brian Winters and left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson all are under contract for 2014.
