Tragic gal ‘wanted to marry Oscar’

Reeva Steenkamp was so in love with Oscar Pistorius she would have married him.

“Reeva told me Oscar treated her like gold,” said her best friend, Samantha Greyvenstein.

“He was the epitome of a true gentleman,” Greyvenstein said in an affidavit read yesterday during a bail hearing for the legless Olympian in the same Pretoria courtroom where Pistorius’ legal team unveiled his defense to the charge of murdering his 29-year-old model girlfriend.

Pistorius bowed his head and cried when Greyvenstein’s statement continued:

“She said she could see a future with him. She said if Oscar asked her to marry him she’d probably say yes.”

Steenkamp, 29, had been dating the “Blade Runner” only since November.

Reeva, a budding reality-show star, felt he was “moving a bit fast,” Greyvenstein said.

Pistorius was “being a bit intense,” she added in the statement read in Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.

But there was no indication that the couple was headed anywhere but toward the altar.

“In my experience, Oscar and Reeva had nothing but love for each other,” the friend said.

Greyvenstein’s boyfriend, Justin Divaris, gave a similar statement to the South African court, saying he believed Pistorius could be “the one” for the law-student-turned-cover girl.

“Oscar and Reeva really loved one another,” said Divaris, a South African business executive.

He said he introduced Pistorius to Reeva and it was clear from the start that they were attracted to one another.

Pistorius didn’t hide his feeling, said Divaris, 27.

“Oscar would often tell me how much he loved Reeva,” he said.

It was Divaris that Pistorius called at 3:55 a.m. on the day of the Valentine’s Day slaying to report what had happened.

“He was totally incoherent and just kept saying, ‘My baba! I’ve killed my baba! God take me away!’ ” Divaris said.

“There’s been a terrible accident. I shot Reeva.”
