Jets’ Revis, Seahawks’ Sherman engage in Twitter war

A battle between two of the best cornerbacks in the NFL is being played out on Twitter.

After weeks of needling from Seahawks star Richard Sherman, Darrelle Revis responded yesterday, saying his business manager has more Twitter followers than Sherman and that Sherman is just using the Jets cornerback’s name “to get notoriety.”

“I never seen a man before run his mouth so much like [a] girl,” Revis wrote. “This dude just steady putting my name in his mouth to get notoriety. … My boy @JohnGeiger_ got more followers then @rsherman_25. Sit down young pup & wait your turn.”

Revis was responding to a subtle slap by Sherman. A fan asked the Seattle player on Twitter who the best cornerbacks in the NFL other than him were. Sherman wrote his teammate Brandon Browner and Revis’ teammate Antonio Cromartie. Another fan asked him about Revis and Sherman said: “he didn’t play this year so when he does then he will be in it.”

This all started late in January when Sherman posted a picture of his own stats next to Revis’ stats with the words “Women lie, men lie, numbers don’t lie.” Revis has 16 interceptions in six seasons, while Sherman has 12 in two seasons, which is the basis for the Seahawk’s argument.

“Sometimes the truth needs to be told,” Sherman tweeted last month. “Tired of the noise lol. Btw I am near the least targeted corner in the League. So keep the excuses.”

Sherman took the same tact yesterday after Revis called him out, bringing up the interception numbers again and telling Revis “get ya picks up!”

“One season u will get 8 picks…. But it won’t happen anytime soon… I did it in my 2nd season… So u have something to chase,” Sherman wrote. … “Got off my flight to this hilarious convo. So I have 8 picks 3 ff and a sack. My season stats looking like Revis career stats.

“For the QB not throwing his way argument. In his 2nd year they were throwing his way. I still doubled his picks.”

Revis wasn’t done though.

“That’s like you saying your better then Deion Sanders & since he’s not playing no more he’s irrelevant for what he’s done,” Revis said.

Sanders, one of the best corners of all time, never had more than seven interceptions in a single season during his 14-year career.

“Child please, lol!!!” Revis wrote. “Your [sic] still taking baby steps son. Don’t get to a head [sic] of yourself.”
