Kitchen death puzzler

A Brooklyn woman died under mysterious circumstances after she was found collapsed on the floor in her tony Cobble Hill apartment, police said.

Elizabeth Borst, 55, was discovered bloody and unconscious in her kitchen late Friday.

Her worried husband, Gaetano Lisco, could not reach Borst by phone while he was working.

A worker from the neighborhood deli made the tragic discovery after Lisco called and asked him to check up on her.

Borst, who worked for the opinion pages of The Post for several years until the mid-1990s, had suffered head trauma, authorities said.

She died at Long Island College Hospital early yesterday.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

Lisco said his wife suffered from blood disorders.

“She was very weak for two weeks,” he said.
