Glenn Beck slams WWE stars as ‘stupid wrestling people’ — whines characters ‘demonizing’ Tea Party

Glenn Beck and the WWE are going toe-to-toe in a war of words.

The political commentator, who used to host a show on Fox News, called out the wildly popular wrestling organization last week, referring to the entertainers as “stupid wrestling people.”

Beck’s comments were referring to the ongoing storyline between Jack Swagger and Alberto Del Rio. Swagger, who has enlisted the help of Zeb Colter, another character in the WWE, is feuding with Del Rio heading into Wrestlemania 29, where the two will square off for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Beck is claiming that Swagger and Colter’s characters are demonizing the Tea Party when the latter of the two went on a racist rant against Del Rio’s character during a show last week.

“The WWE now has put a new character out that is demonizing the TEA Party,” Beck said. “You know Linda McMahon, I’m sorry you didn’t win. We should have seen how your true colors early on, and I think we did. She’s just one of these progressive Republicans that we worry about.”

In response to Beck’s critiques, which were aired on during a radio segment that aired on TheBlazeTV, Colter and Swagger, go on a similar rant in a clip on YouTube before breaking character and explaining to Beck what they actually do at the WWE.

The organization also released an official statement describing the development of the storyline between Swagger, Colter and Del Rio.

“WWE is creating a rivalry centered on a topical subject that has varying points of view,” The WWE said. “This storyline was developed to build the Mexican American character Del Rio into a hero given WWE’s large Latino base, which represents 20 percent of our audience.”

In addition to those comments, Colter and Swagger offer Beck a five minute segment on Monday Night Raw in Dallas, which is set to air tomorrow, to address the “stupid wrestling people.”

Beck declined the WWE’s invitation, saying he has “anything better to do,” but I do not believe that this feud is anywhere near over.
