Season 2 of ‘Vikings’ pits brawny brothers against each other

Here’s your first look at a scene from the upcoming second season of “Vikings” — which was cable’s top new show in its premiere season.

The History series, which averaged 4.3 million viewers in its maiden season, returns for its second go-’round in February, and will open with an epic battle between Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and Jarl Borg (Thorbjorn Harr).

In this exclusive photo from the Season 2 premiere, Rollo (Clive Standen, center) — Ragnar’s wild, carefree, impulsive brother — aligns himself with Borg (Harr, right), pitting brother against brother in a battle only one of them can win.

The second season of “Vikings” will also find Ragnar, who’s now an Earl, allied with King Horrik (Donal Logue) — yet still fired up about his desire to sail and explore (and conquer) new kingdoms.

But he’ll also experience crises of faith, power and relationships as the season unwinds — and Ragnar’s indiscretions, and relationship with Princess Auslag (Alyssa Sutherland),will eventually threaten his marriage to Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), while jeopardizing his relationship with his son, Bjorn (new cast member Alexander Ludwig from “The Hunger Games”).

Also joining the “Vikings” cast in Season 2 will be Linus Roache (“Law & Order”) as Ecbert, King of Wessex.
