ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo stuck it to mayoral wannabe Anthony Weiner yesterday when asked what he thought about the disgraced former Congressman’s bid for Gracie Mansion.

During a interview with The Syracuse Post Standard’s Editorial Board yesterday, Cuomo said it’s fine if Weiner wants to run, but “shame on us” for electing him.

Question: “So if Anthony Weiner wants to run for mayor, he can run for mayor.”

Cuomo: “He runs? He runs.”

Question: “And if we elect him?”

Cuomo: “Shame on us.”

On Wednesday, Cuomo pointedly stayed away from the topic. Asked to comment on Weiner’s candidacy, he answered: “None. No reaction. None.”

Endorsements have been lacking since Weiner joined the race yesterday, but this dig had to hurt. Weiner didn’t immediately respond to a call seeking comment.
