Galaxy star-ship is flying

Samsung says it is shipping Galaxy phones at a record clip.

The latest Galaxy S4 has been in stores for a month, and Samsung said it’s moved 10 million of the devices.

It first started selling at AT&T and T-Mobile last month, but hit Verizon stores yesterday.

Verizon representatives reported its stores had lines for Samsung’s flagship phone.

The HTC One, another recent mobile entrant that has received good reviews, has under-shipped the Galaxy.

Five million HTC Ones have gone out, the company told The Wall Street Journal.

HTC and Samsung report how many phones they bring to market, and not sales to consumers. Apple holds the fastest-selling title with the iPhone 5, which sold 5 million in its opening weekend.

The smartphone market has been a duopoly controlled by Apple and Samsung.

Apple commanded 57 percent of the $12.5 billion smartphone profits last quarter.
