Catholic push for gay nups

A majority — 54 percent — of US Catholics want the Church to overturn its teachings and endorse gay marriage, a new Quinnipiac poll found.

Also, 62 percent of US Catholics want the next pope to allow priests to marry, and 64 percent said the church should relax the ban on contraception. And by a whopping 81 percent to 13 percent, Catholics said the Church should do more to combat sexual abuse of young people by priests,

Overall, 52 percent of US Catholics believe the church is moving in the right direction, while 31 percent it is heading in the wrong direction.
