Now that was a hairy rescue!
A massive — and adorable — Chow climbed out a second-floor window in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, and got stuck on the ledge, spurring a dramatic, caught-on-video rescue by the FDNY.
“It looked like his paws slipped a few times, like maybe he thought he could make the jump down,” said neighbor James Morgan, who captured the Court Street drama on his cellphone camera Thursday night.
“At first, I see this dog and I’m thinking, ‘Oh, that’s cute, the dog’s getting a little fresh air,’ ” recalled Morgan. “Then I noticed he had gotten through the child window barrier and couldn’t get back in.”
The dog was two stories up, too high to jump safely. But luckily a civilian FDNY communications worker was on a job nearby — with his cherry picker.
The unnamed good Samaritan was caught on the video trying to lure the terrified pooch with a bowl of water and some doggie treats, both provided by an employee at the nearby Brownstone Aquariums store. The worker scooped the dog off the ledge and into a bear hug.
