Iran out to nuke US: Bibi

WASHINGTON — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned yesterday that Iran is building intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of nuking the United States — and pushed President Obama to get tough on the rogue nation.

“They’re building ICBMs to reach the American mainland within a few years,” Netanyahu said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“To reach you,” he stressed. “They already have missiles that can reach us.”

The dire warning is part of a last-ditch effort to force Obama to use a credible military threat to dissuade Iran from developing nukes.

A Pentagon intelligence assessment released Friday also said Iran could develop an ICBM capable of reaching the US by 2015.

Israel has signaled for years that it’s ready to attack if the US fails to curtail Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Tehran is getting “closer and closer to the bomb,” and “I won’t wait until it’s too late,” Netanyahu said.

He noted that there is “no sense of urgency” from the international community to confront Iran because of other Middle East problems, including turmoil in Egypt.

“Yet Iran is the most important, the most urgent matter of all,” he said, “because all the problems that we have, however important, will be dwarfed by this messianic, apocalyptic, extreme regime that would have atomic bombs.”
