Judge revokes Chris Brown’s probation, but singer can stay free

LOS ANGELES – A judge revoked Chris Brown’s probation today but allowed the bad boy R&B crooner to remain free until his next court date.

Deputy DA Mary Murray filed papers asking LA Superior Court Judge James Brandlin to “remand the defendant and calendar the matter for further proceedings,” based on Brown’s fender-bender earlier this year.

Brandlin revoked probation, though Brown was allowed to remain free on his own recognizance until the singer’s next hearing on Aug. 16.

Brown showed up in court with his shoulders hunched before sitting down and burying his head in his hands.

While defense lawyer Mark Geragos met with the judge and prosecutors in chambers, Brown kept his head down for almost his entire time in court – so much so that he looked like a headless body to anyone seated in the gallery.

Brown and Geragos declined comment as they left the downtown courthouse.

The “Run It” singer is on probation for his brutal 2009 beat down of his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown’s in trouble now for a May 21 hit-and-run accident in LA when he allegedly didn’t have a valid license. Brown, 24, allegedly rear-ended another car.

“It’s not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who had NO DAMAGE to either cars),” he tweeted at the time. “This is really ridiculous.”
