Oscar Pistorius settles in alleged assault case: report

JOHANNESBURG — A report says Oscar Pistorius has reached a settlement over an alleged assault case in 2009 when he was arrested and accused of causing an injury to a guest at a party at his house after slamming a door.

Eyewitness News in South Africa reports that Pistorius’ lawyers have reached an agreement with Cassidy Taylor-Memmory after she accused Pistorius of assault in the incident nearly five years ago. She was reportedly hurt when the door broke.

Pistorius’ spokeswoman couldn’t immediately confirm details of a settlement.

Pistorius launched a counter claim against Taylor-Memmory, accusing her of making up the assault. He said he was arrested without reason.

Pistorius’ lawyers are also in negotiations with the family of his slain girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp over an out-of-court settlement ahead of his murder trial.
