Chris Brown forgives himself for beating Rihanna, denies breakup rumors on ‘Today’ show

Chris Brown today insisted he’s still with Rihanna and vowed never to raise his hand in anger at her again because “she knows my heart and I know her heart.”

The polarizing hip-hop crooner told NBC’s “Today” show this morning that he understands why people still have it in for him, following his brutal 2009 beating of the pretty songbird.

“I’ve been humbled by the whole experience,” said Brown, convicted of badly beating Rihanna after a music-industry bash four years ago in Los Angeles.

“From me losing everything, you know, to me having to regain, you know, public opinion or whatever it is — but most importantly, you know, knowing that what I did was totally wrong, you know, and having to kind of deal with myself and kind of forgive myself in the same breath and, you know, being able to apologize to, you know, Rihanna and be that man that can be who is a man, you know?”

Brown was asked directly if he’s still romantically involved with Rihanna, in the wake of reports that they had split.

“We’re fine,” he said. “Yeah everything is good, fine.”

Brown claimed he gained great personal insight from 52 weeks of court-ordered domestic violence counseling.

“I think it’s just me proving myself once again and also just being a man .. and you know and knowing what I did was wrong and never doing it again,” he said.

“As far as me and her are concerned, she knows my heart and I know her heart.”

“I’m not really focused you know on the negative, everything about it is positive for me.”

The 23-year-old music star still isn’t through with LA courts, as prosecutors have accused Brown of faking hundreds of hours of community service time. He’s due back in court later this week to answer those accusations.

In the meantime, Brown is keeping a busy schedule, promoting his upcoming album “V” and single “Fine China.”

“It’s just about me being positive and everything I’m doing with my music is hopefully to inspire the world and inspire people that … have been in my situation or even anybody who’s trying to learn from it,” he said.
