MLB: Orioles blank Red Sox

In Atlanta, Mike Minor allowed just one run over seven innings, and the Braves beat the Cardinals, 4-1. … In Cleveland, Ryan Raburn’s three-run homer in the 11th inning off Jason Frasor gave the Indians an 11-8 win over the Rangers. … In Toronto, Edwin Encarnacion hit two home runs in one inning, including his sixth career grand slam, and the Blue Jays beat the Astros, 12-6.

Cuban pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez has agreed to sign with the Phillies, according to Yahoo! Sports. Gonzalez agreed to a six-year deal that could be worth $60 million, the richest contract for an international player, according to the website

A Wisconsin woman said she is still a Brewers fan, even though security at Miller Park Wednesday night asked her to leave a game after she changed her Ryan Braun jersey to read “FRAUD.” Eidem was allowed to remain at the game after she turned her shirt inside out.

The Brewers later issued a statement saying security staff should not have interfered and offered Eidem another game ticket.

Braun accepted a season-ending, 65-game suspension after admitting to violating baseball’s rules on performance-enhancing drugs.

NFL: Peterson says players using HGH

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said he is certain NFL players have used and are using HGH. He also said he looks forward to the day when the league establishes a testing program that can “[even] out the playing field.”

NBA: Nash to try out with soccer club

Steve Nash is going to work out with one of soccer’s most famous clubs.
